What would life be like after an acid attack by one's family for disobeying them? The World on Stage Productions, Delvyn C. Case, Jr., Playwright and Director, and David Cousins, Producer, present a podcast in our series Real Struggles of Real People. The play, MAKEUP, stars Anjali Khujali, Monica Sharma, Liana S. Afuni, and Darpan Joshi. Set in a woman's shelter in Kabul, Afghanistan, the play opens with Rika applying makeup as an effort to cover the scars of burns she has suffered because she attempted to run away with the young man she loves rather than submit to the choice of her parents.
As she awaits a meeting with her parents, Rika re-lives in her mind what has happened and what maybe the future if she returns to their home. Can she make up with them? Does she have any other choice or choices?
